45 Acp Load Data Bullseye

August 6, 2022 by Brett

The .45 ACP 1911 automatic pistol in your hand bucks like a half-crazed bronco on steroids. The aiming black of the 50-yard slow fire target dances through the shimmering mirage in your dot scope like Little Egypt. You're going to pull the trigger 270 times in this competition, and every shot is going to count for score.

With precision handloads, a good Bullseye pistol in .45 ACP like this Clark Custom 1911 will consistently put 10 bullets inside two inches at 50 yards. (Michael Anschuetz photo).

The common target load I'm most familiar with is 4.0g of bullseye with 200g SWC. This has enough power to operate most 1911s with a standard.

Sig Sauer 1911 Tacpac .45 Acp Review Mar 23, 2013. Got to shoot a Sig 1911 Scorpion Carry not long ago. Awesome pistol. Very accurate, easy to aim and hold (probably that front strap checkering), May 31, 2013. The good: The gun is definitely heavy and not something I would personally carry unless I was going to go for a walk in

Bullseye is one of the oldest smokeless pistol powders and still one of the most popular. Since it hit the market 103 years ago, it has been a staple for most handloaders and the backbone of most "accuracy" loads in the popular calibers. In my area, Bullseye is one of the first powders to disappear from shelves, lasting about a heartbeat longer than an econo bulk box of .22 Long Rifle.

For 230gn jacketed and Bullseye: start loads 3.6-5.2gn (600-850fps) and MAX loads 5.2-5.7gn (759-900fps). Note: All load data was to SAAMI max.

The history of the .45 ACP (aka .45 Auto) really began with the .45 Colt during the early 1870s, which was adopted by the U.S. military in 1873, along with the Colt Single Action Army revolver. The .45 Colt quickly earned an outstanding reputation as a fight-stopping cartridge on the frontier, even when stoked with reduced-power military loads.

21 Posts. Discussion Starter · #1 · Oct 11, 2009. I have a Ruger P90TH. I need load data using Zero 230 grain FMJ with Bullseye powder. I checked Alliant's web site. Their load data was 5.7 grains with a 230 grain FMJ. COL at 1.260. My Speer #13 load manual says 5.2-5.7 with a 230 gr. FMJ. COL at 1.260. Any one have their own load data for this?

I have a couple of questions regarding reloads for 45 ACP 1911 Bullseye loads. We, my son and I, shoot bullseye matches in Arizona. Slow fire is at reduces 50 yard targets at 25 yards. We are currently using Missouri Bullet company 185 SWC coated bullets and 3.6 grs. BE. The bullets weight out at closer to 188 grains then the stated 185.

I'm looking for load data for a powder coated lead hollow base 185gr SWC over Alliant Bullseye that will reliably cycle a Government sized 1911 with an 18.5lbs recoil spring, but has minimal recoil.

I just realized Alliant does not list Bullseye for 45 acp for a 185g From rcbs cast book # 1 185g cast bullseye start 3.8g -685 fps to 4.3g.

Billions of rounds have been loaded with Bullseye since it was introduced in 1913.

I have been told as of 2011 that the NEW and current N-100 is faster burning in pistol calibers than the old. Use 10% UNDER any values you see here for older N-100. The older was slower burning in pistol calibers. Discussion: The small case and short powder burning time of the .45 ACP requires a faster burning powder, like Bullseye or Unique.

Picked up a couple # of Bullseye and reloaded some test loads with 4.8 grain – bullet is Extreme 230 gr RN – even the Alliant site says 5.7 grains, I find these 4.8 grains a pretty hot load (no, I do not have a chronometer -yet).

The 45 ACP was originally developed using Bullseye. 5.0 gr was the original military "hardball" load for.

After trying BE in probley 10 different 45 ACP with Saecos #068 200 gr swc any load from 3.5 to 5.0 of BE in .5 gr incruments is accurate from them all . of corse you may have to change recoil spring to get correct pistol functiong. The loads i use the most are 3.5 BE in a wad gun for up to 25 yards & 4.0 to 4.5 gr BE in all the others 45 ACPs.

Re: .45 ACP with Bullseye. Be sure to take your cleaning gear with you. Bullseye is a decent powder for a lot of pistol cartridges. And because of it's density it's a cheap powder to shoot. But it's the nastiest powder I have ever shot in over 35 years of handloading. I still have some. I use it as an alternative some times.

I use it in .38 Spl., 9mm, .44 Spl. and .45acp. One of the big pluses about Alliant powders (formerly Hercules) is their consistency over time.

Bullseye powder is really better suited for the 45 acp than the 9mm I, have always gotten my best accuracy in the 9mm with med fast to med burning speed powder's . For the 45 acp I have tried other fast powders and have found several just as accurate, never found any that were more accurate . 07-29-2015, 08:58 AM #18.
